INFORMATION ON "CPF" (BRAZILIAN INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYER REGISTRY)

PLEASE NOTE: The application for "Cadastro de Pessoa Física - CPF" is processed by MAIL ONLY.

In order to apply for a “Cadastro de Pessoa Física – CPF” or a Brazilian Individual Taxpayer Registry number, the interested party must send the following documents to the Consulate General of Brazil, 3500 Lenox Rd NE, One Alliance Center, Suite 800, Atlanta, GA 30326:

1) Completed application form. Visit the website of Receita Federal (www.receita.fazenda.gov.br), fill-out and print completed application form.

Form must be signed and notarized by notary public under the Consulate's jurisdiction. The notary public's signature must then be authenticated by the County Clerk who has comissioned the notary public.

2) Original and valid ID with picture (i.e. passport or US driver's license) or a notarized copy of a valid ID with picture with the authentication of the County Clerk.

3) Consulate fee:

- for foreigners: $10.00 for original document  authentication OR $20.00 for a notarized copy.

- for Brazilian citizens: $5.00 for original document  authentication OR $10.00 for a notarized copy.

The fee must be paid with a U.S. Postal Service money order only.

Please take note of your application number in your CPF e-form as it is your control number to be used for a future follow up at the Brazilian “Receita Federal” website, where you can obtain your CPF number.

After we send the application to Brazil, the Consulate is unable to provide any follow up on your application. The processing time is 4-8 weeks.
