LEGALIZATION OF SCHOOL RECORDS, TRANSCRIPTS AND DIPLOMAS

ATTENTION: the legalization of documents is processed by MAIL ONLY.

Important Note: the JURISDICTION of the Consulate General of Brazil in Atlanta covers the states of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The Consulate General of Brazil in Atlanta can only legalize documents issued within its jurisdiction.

1) All school documents, such as transcripts, letters, diplomas and certificates, must be originals, that means must have the school name/city/state, the raised seal, and the signature of its certifying Officer (principal, registrar or counselor).

2) The consular fee is US$ 5.00 per document (diplomas, letters, certificates, school transcripts) issued by universities, colleges and high schools. More than 3 school documents can be legalized as a set (which means that they can not be detached from the set) for the consular fee of US$ 15.00.

3) All consular fees have to be paid in “money order” issued by the U.S. Postal Service only, payable to the "Consulate of Brazil".

4) The Brazilian Consulate accepts mail carried by Express Mail envelopes from the U.S. Postal Service only. Senders must enclose a pre-paid, self-addressed return Express Mail envelope. Correspondence carried by other services such as DHL, Fedex, UPS, etc. are not accepted and will be returned without being open.

5) The Consulate will not be held responsible for delays or missing documents/cash due to postal errors and strongly recommends taking note of the tracking numbers of the Express Mail envelopes from the U.S. Postal Service.

6) In the event of a loss the person must start the process legalization all over again by following the same procedures hereby stated.

7) The processing time is 20 (twenty) business days. It starts on the day we receive the documents and does not take into account the time the documents spend in the mail. Important information: Be aware that the turnout may be longer during high season, especially at the end of the school, year due to the high volume of school documents sent for legalization by high-school exchange students, under-graduate and graduate students, within the six states under the jurisdiction of the Consulate.

8) Documents that do not fall into the categories described above (i.e. are not issued within our jurisdiction, are not originals, or do not have raised seals or signatures) will not be processed and will be automatically returned to the sender by the “Express Mail” return envelope.

9) For further information please send an email to: legal@atlantaconsulatebrazil.org .
