General Information For All Visa Applicants

by João Eduardo Martin last modified 2012-05-02 11:13

ü The Visa Section of the Consulate of Brazil in Atlanta is open to receive applications, by appointment only, from 9am to 1 pm, Monday through Friday. Visa pick-up is from 3 to 4 pm. The Consulate is located at 3500 Lenox Rd, One Alliance Center, suite 800, Atlanta, Georgia, 30326;

ü It is the applicant’s responsibility to present the complete documentation in due time and make travel plans accordingly. There are no expediting fees, services or walk-ins;

ü The Consulate only accepts United Stated Postal Money Orders as form of payment;

ü If applied at the Consulate in person or by a third party, visas are processed on the same day. Visas pick up is from 3 to 4 pm.

  • If you apply by mail, the processing time is 5 business days. Visas submitted by visa service or travel agency take up to 20 business days to be processed. Anyone can submit the visa paperwork on the applicant's behalf. There is an extra 20 dollar fee for third parties (except direct family members).

ü The type of visa and its terms of validity are decided by the Consulate, at its own sole discretion. As a basic rule, both the type and duration of a visa are results of an analysis made by the Consulate of the documentation presented by the applicant in support of his/her declared activities in Brazil;

ü To check the status of your visa, click here. If the status is "pending", allow the Consulate time to process your visa. If the status is "no application pending", the visa has been processed and sent back. Please use your return envelope tracking number to find out where it is. The Consulate DOES NOT track envelopes for applicants;
ü All visas are multiple entries. Tourist and business visa holders may stay in Brazil for 90 days, during the one-year period following the date of first entry. A one-time extension of up to 90 days may be granted in Brazil by the Federal Police Department (Delegacia de Estrangeiros);

ü No phone calls about visas will be answered. All inquires and questions should be sent by e-mail to visa@atlantaconsulatebrazil.org.  For security reasons the Consulate does not open attachments sent by e-mail. Applicants should send documents by fax (404) 949-2402.
