Permanent visa for retired applicants

4 - RETIREMENT
A Permanent Visa may be issued to retired individuals who intend to establish permanent residency in Brazil and can prove ability to transfer to Brazil a pension that amounts at least to US$ 2,000.00 (two thousand US dollars) monthly.

Similar visas may also be issued for dependants (spouse and children of the applicant under 21 years of age). If number of dependants exceeds two, the applicant must be able to transfer an amount of US$ 1,000.00 for each extra dependant who intends to accompany him/her.

This visa is to be authorized by the Ministry of External Relations. 

The visa approval has a validity of 6 months. Registration with the DPMAF (Federal Police) should be made within 30 days of arrival in Brazil. 

The visa application and the pertinent authentified documentation shall be submitted to consular section of this Embassy. The consular sector of the Embassy will then submit the presented documentation to Brazilian home authorities.

Requirements for a visa application and authentications fee:
A – One application form, completed and signed by the applicant

B – Passport valid for at least six months prior to its expiration date. 
Authenticated photocopies of the identifying pages will be taken by the consular section of the Embassy. Legalization fee: NOK 120  per   page, for copies taken in the Embassy, or NOK 80 per page copied outside (rettkopi).    
For documents sent by mail, instead of sending the passport, the applicant should send a notary public’s authenticated copy of the identifying pages of the passaport. The fee to have this copy legalized by the Embassy is NOK 80 page. 

C - One passport-size photograph, front view, white background; 

D –  Certificate of good behaviour (Transcript of the Police Records) issued in the county of residence and origin, not more than 90 days prior to delivery to this Embassy. Please note that certificates issued in other countries than Norway and Iceland must be legalized by the Brazilian Diplomatic Representation in the country where they were issued;

E- Declaration from the ''NAV Trygd'' or the pension provider, informing the monthly amount paid as a pension and confirming the retirement of the applicant. This document shall be recognized as an authentic document by a Notary Public. F- Declaration from the applicant's bank stating that the amount received as a pension can be legally transferred to Brazil. This document shall be recognized as an authentic document by a Notary Public. (To learn how it is done check the information “Legalization of documents”, section “Legalization of other documents issued in Norway”). Legalization fee: NOK 160; 

The following documents must be legalized first by a Notary Public (Notarius Publicus, usually in the “Tingrett”):
- Declaration from the ''NAV Trygd''
- Declaration from the applicant's bank.

From the dependant(s):
 
  1. One application form, filled in and signed by the applicant

If the dependant (spouse and children under 21 years old) is under 18 years old, the form shall be signed by the applicant;

Minors are exempt from certificate of good behaviour. Please note that certificates issued in other countries than Norway and Iceland must be legalized by the Brazilian Diplomatic Representation in the country where they were issued;

E- Original birth certificate (international model) and marriage certificate (in case a permanent visa requested for the applicant’s spouse). Legalization fee: NOK 160 per document.

 
All documents must be legalized by the Embassy of Brazil. If possible, it is recommended that they be presented in English, Spanish or French.


After the visa has been approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and your name has been included in the list “Authorized Visas” in our website you shall present or send the following to this Embassy:
  1. Passport;
  2. Receipt of the payment of the consular fee for a permanent visa (see below).

CONSULAR FEES:
The consular fee for a permanent visa is NOK 1.600.

USA citizens are subject to an additional processing fee of NOK 1.120, on a reciprocity basis.

British citizens are subjected to a NOK 1.240 processing fee.

All applications not submitted by the passport holder in person are subject to a handling fee of NOK 160 in addition to any other applicable fee.
Please note that the above-mentioned amount does not include the fees to be paid for the legalization of the documents which will be forwarded to the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For those fees, please refer to the paragraph “Documentation Required” above.
METHODS OF PAYMENT

All fees must be paid by bank transfer (account number 70320519126, DnB NOR Bank) or with debit card, if in person.Bank transfers from abroad: IBAN NO70 7032 0519 126, SWIFT: DNBANOKKXXX. Please make sure that all taxes are included, so that the amount credited to our account corresponds exactly to the consular fee.

NOTE
: The name of petitioner and the nature of the services to be rendered shall be specified in the payment sheet.
POST
For applications sent by post, please attach the receipt of the payment of the consular.
When sending your passport for retrieving your visa please attach also a self-addressed pre-paid envelope (registered letters).

The Embassy cannot be held responsible for lost or delayed mail.

PROCESSING TIME:
Upon arrival of complete documentation at the Embassy, please allow a minimum of ten (10) working days for the issuance of the visa.
