VITEM VI – News correspondents
NEWS CORRESPONDENTS
Temporary Visa Type VI (VITEM-VI) is issued to journalists travelling to Brazil as press, radio and television correspondents, as well as to their dependants or dependants of a VITEM-VI visa holder.
The issuance of this visa requires authorisation from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Relations. The procedure has two phases.
First step: applying for an authorisation
The newspaper, news service, magazine, radio or television station or network must address to the Embassy a letter providing information on the assignment and giving the following details on the correspondent. Based on such information the Embassy will consult the Brazilian home authorities.
A – complete name in accordance with passport
B – date and place of birth
C – nationality
D – parents' names
E – passport number
F – civil status (if married, same data on spouse must be provided)
G – purported duration of employment in Brazil
H - if applicant will replace another correspondent, the name of the replaced journalist must be informed.
I - confirmation that the employer will be responsible for the correspondent's remuneration
Second step: collecting the visa
Once the Embassy receives authorization to issue the visa, the applicant must produce the following items:
A –Application form duly completed and signed.
B – One recent photograph.
C – Passport valid for a minimum of six months.
D - Certificate of residence issued Norwegian/Icelandic authorities (international model).
E - Certificate of good behaviour (international model) issued by the Norwegian/Icelandic Police and of the country of origin, in the case of being a national of a third country (issued not more than 90 days prior to delivery to this Embassy).
F - Certificate of employment (letter) stating that all revenues will be received by a source not from Brazil.
PLEASE NOTE THAT
- Visas are valid for arrival in Brazil within 90 days from the date of issuance.
- Maximum duration of VITEM-VI visas is four years. Extensions can be applied for at the Department of Federal Police, in Brazil, at least 30 days before the visa expires.
- Applications for Temporary Visa VI can only be submitted in the consular district in which the applicant resides.

C. Two passport size photographs, front view, white background.
D - Certificate of good behaviour (international model) issued by the Norwegian/Icelandic Police and of the country of origin, in the case of being a national of a third country (issued not more than 90 days prior to delivery to this Embassy).
E - Original Marriage and Birth certificates (“internasjonal modell”), which will be legalized by this Embassy. Please note that certificates issued in other countries than Norway and Iceland must be legalized by the Brazilian Diplomatic Representation in the country where they were issued. British citizens are subjected to a NOK 1240 processing fee for all visas which validity extends the period of 180 days, on a reciprocity basis.
