Tourist Visa

Regulations

 

·        This type of visa is required for nationals traveling to Brazil as tourists or participants in conferences, seminars, arts and sports events (provided no payment is involved for their participation).

·        Nationals of the following countries are visa exempt when travelling to Brazil on tourism: Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Morocco, Namibia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, The Philippines, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Sovereign Order of Malta, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uruguay, The Vatican and Venezuela.

·        Passports must be valid for at least six months from the date of intended arrival in Brazil, and have enough blank pages for visas and entrance stamps.

·        Length of stay in Brazil could be up to 90 days, which can be extended to a further 90 days, according to the discretion of the Brazilian Immigration Authorities (DPMAF). However, tourist stays in Brazil should not exceed 180 days in any 12-month period.

·        Employment paid or unpaid is prohibited.

·        First entry into Brazil must be made within 90 days from the visa date of issue. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the application is lodged accordingly.

 

Requirements

 

·        Valid passport (the Consular Section of the Embassy reserves the right not to endorse soiled, damaged or defaced passports.).

·        Application form duly completed and signed by the applicant (incomplete forms will be returned).

·        One recent passport-sized photograph, facing camera (snapshots or computer pictures are not accepted).

·        Return or onward ticket, booking statement from the travel agency addressed to the Brazilian Embassy or e-ticket confirmation containing the name of the passenger, confirmed itinerary, flight numbers and arrival/departure dates.

·        Certificate of vaccination, if necessary (see information on vaccinations).

·        For those participating in conferences, seminars, arts or sports events, a letter is requested from the organizing institution in Brazil, containing specific information on the activity to be performed, location and duration of the event and stating that the participant will not receive payment.

·        Proof of financial self-support during the stay of the applicant in Brazil (bank statements of account in Ireland, payment slips and credit cards are accepted as proof).

·        Proof of payment of consular fees (original lodgment receipt duly stamped by the bank).

·        Proof of legal residence in the Republic of Ireland (Work Permit, Work Authorization or valid Irish visa allowing re-entry into the Republic of Ireland). For those without valid re-entry visa into the Republic of Ireland, a valid visa to the country of final destination after the trip to Brazil is required (this requirement does not apply to applicants returning to the country of citizenship).

 

PLEASE NOTE that the requirements listed above should not, in any way, be considered all inclusive. The Consular Section of the Brazilian Embassy in Dublin reserves the right to request additional information and/or documentation when they are deemed necessary.

 

Consular fees and processing time

 

·        All consular fees must be lodged to the Embassy of Brazil’s account nr. 30095047, sort code 90-00-17, Bank of Ireland, College Green, Dublin 2, prior to applying for the visa. Please note that electronic transfers are not accepted, and that this Consular Section does not handle any payment.

·        The consular fee for a tourist visa is €20.00. Based on reciprocity, however, nationals of the following countries are charged as follows: Australia (€35.00); Canada (€40.00); Japan (€50.00); Nigeria (€40.00); Russia (€50.00).

·        For USA citizens, tourist visas are free of charge, but a processing fee of €100.00 is applicable, based on reciprocity.

·        Nationals from certain countries require consultation with the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations, prior to the issue of their visas. In these cases an extra, non-refundable consultation fee of €25.00 (per person) will apply, and the processing time is a minimum of 15 working days.

·        When visas are applied for by post, through travel agencies, delivery services, or third party, there is an additional handling fee of  €10.00 (per person). This fee does not cover the posting of documents.

·        When applying by mail, a self-addressed prepaid registered envelope must be enclosed, for the return of the passport. The Embassy cannot accept responsibility for the loss and/or damage of documents in any kind of mail.

·        Processing time required is 5-10 working days.

 

Other relevant information

·        In times of heavy workload waiting times will increase. Therefore, do not leave your application to the last minute and do not commit yourself to travel plans until you know when your visa will be issued.

·        This Consular Section does not provide express or emergency visa services.
