Visa - Journalists, TV and Film Crews & Professional Photo Shoots (Temporary Visa II)

Regulations

 

·        This type of visa is required for foreign nationals traveling to Brazil as journalists (non correspondents), TV and film crews.

·        Nationals of the following countries, whose stay in Brazil will not exceed 90 days and who will not receive any payment in the country, are exempted from this type of visa:  Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Morocco, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, The Philippines, Poland, Portugal (journalists only), San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sovereign Order of Malta, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand,  Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uruguay and The Vatican.

·        When carrying professional equipment, however, nationals of the above countries are recommended to obtain a visa under this category. This is to facilitate procedures with Brazilian Customs for the temporary importation of that equipment into Brazil.

·        Please note that commercial, publicity and documentary filming in Brazil requires the participation of a Brazilian co-producer who will submit an application for the authorization for filming to the 'Agência Nacional do Cinema - Ancine'.

·        Passports must be valid for at least six months from the date of intended arrival in Brazil, and have enough blank pages for visas and entrance stamps.

·        First entry into Brazil must be made within 90 days from the visa date of issue. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the application is lodged accordingly.

 

Requirements  for a Visa application

 

·        Valid passport (the Consular Section of the Embassy reserves the right not to endorse soiled, damaged or defaced passports.).

·        One application form duly completed and signed by the applicant (incomplete forms will be returned).

·        One recent passport-sized photograph, facing camera (snapshots or computer pictures are not accepted).

·        A letter (on company or institution’s letterhead) stating employee’s name and title, contact in Brazil, job description to be carried out in Brazil, how long the employee has been working for the company, and assuming full responsibility for the applicant while in Brazil.

·         Authorisation from the “Secretaria para o Desenvolvimento do Audiovisual do Ministério da Cultura/ANCINE”, applicable only to commercial, publicity and documentary filming.

·        Certificate of vaccination, if necessary (see information on vaccinations).

·        Proof of payment of consular fees (original lodgment receipt duly stamped by the bank).

 

 

PLEASE NOTE that the requirements listed above should not, in any way, be considered all inclusive. The Consular Section of the Brazilian Embassy in Dublin reserves the right to request additional information and/or documentation when they are deemed necessary.

 

Consular fees and processing time

 

·        All consular fees must be lodged to the Embassy of Brazil’s account nr. 30095047, sort code 90-00-17, Bank of Ireland, College Green, Dublin 2, prior to applying for the visa. Please note that electronic transfers are not accepted, and that this Consular Section does not handle any payment.

·        The consular fee for a temporary visa II is €60.00.

·        Gratis for nationals from Belgium, Italy, Germany, Norway and Sweden, for stays up to 90 days.

·        USA citizens are subject to an additional processing fee of €100.00, based on reciprocity.

·        When visas are applied for by post, through travel agencies, delivery services, or third party, there is an additional handling fee of €10.00 (per person). This fee does not cover the posting of documents.

·        When applying by mail, a self-addressed prepaid registered envelope must be enclosed, for the return of the passport. The Consular Section cannot accept responsibility for the loss and/or damage of documents in any kind of mail.

·        Processing time required is a minimum of 5 working days.

Other relevant information

·        In times of heavy workload waiting times will increase. Therefore, do not leave your application to the last minute and do not commit yourself to travel plans until you know when your visa will be issued.

·        This Consular Section does not provide express or emergency visa services.
